The Mears Foundation for Autism will be sponsoring a “Light It Up Blue” fundraising event April 4th benefiting Autism Speaks. April is National Autism Awareness Month and April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. In celebration of these events Autism Speaks, an organization which supports autism research and families who are fighting the everyday battle with autism, has initiated a month long event called “Light It Up Blue.”
During the month of April iconic buildings and structures all around the world will be glowing with blue lights, such as:
-Sydney Opera House, Australia
-The Pyramids, Egypt
-The Empire State Building, New York
-Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco
-Washington Monument, Washington, D.C.
-And over 2,000 other buildings in over 180 U.S. cities and 30 countries around the world
As part of this celebration a Light It Up Blue silent auction and Autism Awareness Night will be held in Lee’s Summit, Missouri on April 4th. It will be held at the Got Art Gallery On Third. Live Performance Painter as well as Blues music will be just a part of this fantastic event. All proceeds from the event will be collected by The Mears Foundation for Autism the night of the event.
As the purpose of this event is to not only raise funds but also awareness we will provide information on the services Autism Speaks provides for families and individuals on the autism spectrum.
GOT Art Gallery will be lighting our front window in blue in honor of this event beginning Weds April 2nd through the entire month.
